Evening Reflection
Those last lines about all being holy and blessed kind of threw me.
Awful things happen all over our beautiful planet: wars, freak accidents, terminal illnesses, and brazen attacks on unsuspecting people. I know our world is not all sweetness and light. It can be dangerous and scary. So what of this light shining on all, rendering it holy and blessed,
The genius of God is that God views all creation and all things in it as holy. And, although it may be hard for most of us to see, everything is ultimately blessed and uplifted. This can only be because God works all things for good, even the bad things, the tragic things, the worst of the worst. In my experience, the worst occurrences have at the very least taught me to appreciate when things are not at their worst; in other words, I have learned to appreciate the goodness of life and the good things in life.
The crazy thing is that we can experience the paradox of crying and laughing at the same time. We can experience sadness and joy at the same time. We can complain and count our blessings at the same time. This is where I think the guidance is heading: Love triumphs. Why? Because the presence of God is over all.
If we connect to this truth and let it sink in, then we grow to understand that there is nothing that is not blessed. There is nothing that cannot bless and uplift us, with God’s help.
That is how great God is. That is how powerful divine love is.
