God, how would you have me be in the world today?

God, how would you have me be in the world today?
Be welcoming and open,
like the meadows and the plains.
Hold on to nothing, and meet all
without judgement or opinion.
Be a container for others to inhabit.
Let them hear and see themselves
through your clear and open spirit.
Invite with your eyes, heart, and speech.
Be a resting pace for the sojourners
you meet today.
Refresh with your encouragement,
purify with your hope,
nourish with your trust,
strengthen with your faith.
Let the borders of your being extend outward;
make a safe place for others
to roam, rest, and replenish.
All are welcome. All are welcome.
Evening Reflection
At 4:00 pm , an old friend came to visit. He was going through a rough life change and needed a warm welcome. I had not seen this person in a few years and was glad to listen, share a meal, and learn the details of his journey.
As the friend was preparing to leave, to my surprise he acknowledged my hospitality and acceptance. Furthermore, he said, “I think this is the beginning of a turnaround for me.”
I was glad to hear that, and while I take no credit for it, perhaps being conscious of the guidance to be an open, welcoming spirit contributed to his positive change.
We all need assisted living at certain times. Sometimes the assistance comes in the form of someone listening to us and responding with faith or a positive outlook.

God, what would you have me say and do today?

God, what would you have me say and do today?
Be gentle and sensitive.
Make no effort to push for anything.
Let things flow; take things in stride.
Today, relax as you choose what to do.
Speak with love.
Let others know that you appreciate them.
Be present for others while giving them space.
Be open to a new, subtler level of sensitivity
to the states of mind and being of others.
Be understanding and have no judgement;
say what is loving and supportive.
This is a day of gentle being for you.
Let natural grace flow from you.
This will be your gift today…
graceful conversation and ease of interaction.
Don’t fake anything.
No pretense of any kind today.
Be strong in your resolve to do this.
Let nothing get in your way.
Evening Reflection
Today was quite a success-until about 9:00 pm.
An issue surfaced at a gathering that I tried to remain quiet about because I had strong opinions that I believed were not useful in that context. I don’t have a very good poker face though, and someone asked me what was wrong. When I had my say, my words were met with anger. Even though I was coming from a place of love and care,my opinion was received in a way I had not intended.
Had I been gentle and sensitive when I finally spoke?
I thought I had been.
Did I speak lovingly? Yes. (I thought I did, anyway.)
Was I judgmental? Yes, I had some judgement, even though what I said was loving and supportive.
Did I let something get in the way? Yes-me!
Uuggh!
I almost made it. Sometimes the real test happens at the end of the day!
Watch out for 9:00 pm!

God, what would you have me say and do today?

God, what would you have me say and do today?
Remember the child in you.
Honour the vulnerable aspects of your being.
Love gently your fears, pains, and wonderings.
Adopt this precious part of you. Hold it
with tenderness and compassion,
and bring it into your
protection and understanding.
This child is a gift to you,
and you are a gift to it.
Give this part of you a home
within your higher consciousness.
Hold close to your heart this younger self.
Wrap your arms around…you.
Allow the child that lives and lingers within
to feel your spiritual strength-
to feel the part of you that is sure of me.
Let it feel the part of you that has
unflinching faith,
the part that knows the power of love and light,
the parts that have experienced healing, blessing,
and the negation of fear.
Let the child see through your eyes
and become like you-
whole, fearless,
a divine light being..
Evening Reflection
Today wasn’t about how to treat or be with other people or how to be in the world. It was about recognizing and acknowledging the part of me that is still a child and then giving it the attention and TLC it needs.
A recurring dream about being asked to adopt a homeless, abandoned child, one who had my initials and who looked somewhat like me, made it clear that I was being guided to integrate the part of me-the child in me-that had been left on his own.
This precious guidance led me to recognize, honour, and begin to consciously integrate a childhood trauma. I remembered the intense fear I experienced when I was six years old, and I want to say to that young guy, “Hello, little David. You are now home. You are protected, loved, and out of danger. Be not afraid any longer.”
How was your experience of being asked to remember the child in you?

God, what would you have me say and do today?

God, what would you have me say and do today?
Do not speak hastily.
Listen deeply
and respond with genuine heart.
Feel what is in your soul. Look within
and be with your truth.
Rest inside yourself
and enjoy who you are.
Watch for things that may surprise you
and then investigate them.
See where you have grown.
Notice the boundaries of your own maturity.
Look around.
Imagine where you are going.
Be thankful for the paths you have travelled
and sense your spirit’s excitement
for the soul journey to come.
Today is a day of introspection.
Look inward with wonder
and awe.

God, how would you have me be in the world today?

God, how would you have me be in the world today?
Be like a blossom in springtime,
waking to a new beginning:
opening, growing,
fresh, alive,
and glad to be so.
Be fragrant in what you say and do.
Leave a sweet scent wherever you go.
Let your attitudes and responses
be beautiful to behold.
Draw spiritual nourishment from the deep
and ever flowing source
of replenishment and renewal.
Always lean toward the light of divinity.
Let it’s warm and peaceful rays of wisdom
and loving guidance surround you
as you journey through the day.
Speak with the beauty of your whole being
and allow others to look upon you
while you stand in my glow, grace, and serenity.
Keep blossoming today;
allow new aspects of your beauty to unfold
through your face, mannerisms, and temperament.
Enjoy being beautiful today…
all day.

God, what would you have me say and do today?

God, what would you have me say and do today?
Be like a mountain standing in the blue sky.
Make love a strength in your being today.
Stand up for those you love; for those who need your strength and support.
With your words, give others beauty and light,
warmth and comfort.
Today you are strong enough to protect
others’ needs. Do not think about yourself.
Let your resolve stand you above the goings-on
of the day.
Rise into divinity when you feel yourself
becoming self-centred or needy.
Maintain your high resolve to stay in the light;
remain in the sunshine of love, grace, care, and
compassion.
Breathe in fresh air,
and bask in the breezes of love, understanding,
patience, gentleness, and goodness.
Stand with and look out for those
you come in contact with today;
those you love,
and those you do not know.
Root yourself in the ground of divinity
and gain the resources to live into this today.
Should this guidance become difficult,
don’t give up.
Rise up.
Will you do this today?
Evening Reflection
It did not take more than half and hour for me to be tested in this guidance.
I was presented with a personal challenge that took a tremendous amount of inner fortitude, love, and strength to meet. I did not see it coming. Have you ever been faced with a powerful challenge you didn’t ask for or see coming?
Spiritual guidance happens in many ways: perhaps as a response to prayer, or as words of wisdom that we recognize as a message for us. The point is that when Spirit guides us to act or speak a certain way, even when we do not know why, it is wise to follow the lead of God’s holy spirit. It is not blind obedience that I am talking about. It is trust-trust in God’s guidance based on our own past experiences of divine guidance, regardless of whether the results were what we wanted. Divine trust means knowing that there is a bigger picture, one which we may not see or even be privy to. Thus the great spiritual challenge: Let go and let God.
When we let go and let God, we become servants of the Divine, which then allows us to become angels for others at any time.

God, what would you have me say and do today?

God, what would you have me say and do today?
Be watchful…
Be helpful.
Speak with patience and understanding.
Take no offence
but be like water
and adapt to the shape of the day.
Know that you are loved,
and walk in that knowledge.
Be a soft cushion for others to rest on.
May your love be deep and strong today.
May your emotions remain peaceful today.
May you look upon the day with thankfulness.
Be joyful all day
and watch the divine play unfold!
Evening Reflection
To adapt to the shape of the day was a beautiful guidance to live into. It took the pressure off, and I found myself just letting things be without feeling the need to control. I offered my ideas in meetings without a sense of ownership. I found I spoke easily and waited for a response with much less ego involvement and defensiveness in my inner stance than usual.
The fun in it all is that I am aware that I am doing this. I can feel the difference between doing it and not. The goal is to become more and more able to follow the guidance without thinking about it. However, it is a wonderful gift to have help along the way.
The guidance’s reminder that I am loved also allowed a relaxation within my being that made the day flow without me needing or desiring anything from anyone. What an experience!
Be a soft cushion for others to rest on-this was the most surprising item of the guidance. During my encounters with others throughout the day, I loved the feeling of being a soft cushion for them to rest upon. I seemed to move my body more smoothly and take things in stride; I didn’t feel as though I had to comment on this or that. I listened in a loving and accepting way and let the words of others sink in.
Watching-just watching-allowed me to enjoy and appreciate the gifts, personalities, and even the moods and dispositions of those I shared life with today. Today’s guidance grew on me as I sank deeper and deeper into it’s wisdom. I think I grew into it also.
How did you live with this one?
